Prof. Keith Hampton and his former students Garrett Albanesius and Lauren Sessions Goulet received the American Sociological Association’s Communication and Information Technology Section’s Best Paper Award. The award recognizes an outstanding published paper or book chapter related to the sociology of communication, media and/or information technology published within the two calendar years. The award was for their paper published in the journal Urban Studies titled Change in the Social Life of Urban Public Spaces: The Rise of Mobile Phones and Women, and the Decline of Aloneness Over 30 Years.
